How can PCOS patients manage weight and improve metabolism despite hormonal imbalance?

I have been struggling with PCOS for almost 7 years. Despite trying different diets and exercising, my weight keeps increasing and I feel tired all the time. Doctors say weight management is the key, but what if someone cannot lose weight easily due to hormonal imbalance? Are there any treatments that can help improve metabolism in PCOS patients?

Weight management with PCOS can be very frustrating because hormonal imbalance makes it harder for the body to respond to normal diets and exercise. It is not simply about willpower. Insulin resistance often plays a big role and that is why some women benefit from additional medical support. Medicines like metformin are sometimes given to improve the way the body handles sugar and energy, which can support weight control and metabolism.

Checking thyroid function and vitamin levels can also be useful because deficiencies or underactive thyroid can add to weight gain and fatigue. Diet plans that focus on low glycemic foods rather than strict calorie restriction are often easier to sustain. If your symptoms are worsening despite lifestyle care, it is worth asking your doctor about further testing and treatment options to make weight control less of a struggle.
