Cataract Surgery in Delhi NCR : Hospital Visits, Insurance Coverage & Lens Options
3 months ago
If I get cataract surgery done in Delhi, Noida, or Gurugram, how many times do I need to visit the hospital? Is the surgery covered by insurance, and what are the lens options available? I would also like to know the advantages and disadvantages of multifocal and trifocal lenses, and whether there are any side effects after surgery.

Cataract surgery is a day care procedure, so you do not need multiple hospital visits. The surgery is done on the same day, and you only need to come back for a follow-up consultation the next morning.
Regarding insurance, Star Health insurance does cover cataract surgery. We will first check your policy for any co-payment requirements. If there is no co-pay, the treatment can be arranged through Catalyst, and you do not need hospital admission.
For lens options, multifocal lenses are a good choice if you want less dependence on glasses, but they may not be suitable for elderly patients or those with very high eye power.
- Multifocal lenses: Provide good vision but may cause mild halos or glare in some patients.
- Trifocal lenses: Cost approximately ₹1,00,000 to ₹1,80,000, and their main advantage is clear vision with minimal glare.
After surgery, there are generally no major allergies or side effects. Some patients may experience temporary redness or small bumps in the eyes, which usually settle on their own.
