Heavy bleeding one month after abortion — is this a normal period?

After an abortion, it is common for the first period to come within 4–6 weeks, and it can sometimes be heavier than usual because the body is readjusting hormonally. Since your ultrasound on April 17th showed that everything was clear and the earlier bleeding had stopped, the heavy bleeding starting from May 6th could be your first normal period after the abortion.

However, if the bleeding is extremely heavy, you are passing large clots frequently, feeling weak or dizzy, having severe abdominal pain, fever, or foul-smelling discharge, you should consult your gynecologist again to rule out infection or any other complication. If the bleeding is manageable and there are no concerning symptoms, it is often part of the normal recovery process.
