How can I manage fibroid-related heavy bleeding and anemia through diet?

I am struggling with heavy bleeding and severe cramps due to fibroids. Doctors say iron deficiency and weakness are common. Could you please suggest what kind of diet I should follow to manage it until I go for treatment?

Heavy bleeding from fibroids can definitely lead to anemia, iron deficiency, and fatigue — so diet plays a very important role in supporting your health until treatment. A few tips:

  • Iron-rich foods: Include leafy greens (spinach, kale), legumes (beans, lentils), lean red meat, eggs, and nuts.
  • Vitamin C sources: Citrus fruits, guava, and tomatoes help your body absorb iron better.
  • Whole grains and fiber: Brown rice, oats, and whole wheat keep digestion smooth and reduce constipation, which can worsen pelvic pressure.
  • Stay hydrated: Dehydration can make cramps worse, so drink enough water.
  • Limit caffeine and processed foods: These may worsen bloating and discomfort.

It’s also good to get a simple blood test (hemoglobin levels, iron studies) to check how severe the deficiency is. If levels are very low, iron supplements may be needed alongside diet.
