PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) is a very common condition today, but it does not mean that pregnancy is impossible. While some women with PCOS may find it more difficult to conceive, many are able to get pregnant with proper guidance and treatment. If you have PCOS and become pregnant, there is usually no need to panic. For nearly 80% of women with PCOS, pregnancy progresses normally, similar to women without PCOS.

However, about 20% of women may experience complications, the most common being gestational diabetes during pregnancy. PCOS is a combination of symptoms such as irregular periods, multiple small cysts in the ovaries, acne, weight gain, insulin resistance, and sometimes diabetes-like features. Because of this, blood sugar levels need to be monitored closely during pregnancy.

If you have PCOS and are pregnant, it is very important to regularly check blood sugar levels, follow a healthy diet, maintain an active lifestyle, and take medications if prescribed by your doctor. In cases where blood sugar becomes difficult to control, insulin may be required. With early monitoring, lifestyle management, and timely treatment, most women with PCOS can have a healthy pregnancy and delivery.
