Cataract Surgery & Retinal Barrage Laser : Day Care Procedure, Insurance Coverage & Cashless Eligibility

I want to understand whether cataract surgery is a day-care procedure and how long it takes. Also, I have been advised to have retinal barrage laser treatment and would like to know if it is covered under insurance, whether cashless claims are possible, and how reimbursement works. I have a Neova PPO insurance policy—how does it apply in this case?

Cataract surgery is generally a day-care procedure and usually takes around 1–2 hours, after which the patient can return home the same day with proper post-operative care.

Retinal barrage laser treatment, on the other hand, is considered an OPD (outpatient) procedure rather than a surgery. Because of this, it is typically not covered under cashless insurance facilities through hospital tie-ups. Even if your insurance policy such as Neova PPO provides approval, the payment for this procedure is usually handled on a reimbursement basis rather than cashless.

This means you would need to pay for the procedure upfront and later submit the bills to your insurance provider for reimbursement, subject to policy terms and coverage. The hospital will provide the necessary medical reports and documentation to support your claim, but cashless processing is generally not applicable for this type of treatment.
