Cyst Turned Red and Painful — Is It Infected?
Sometimes my cyst becomes red and painful. Does this indicate infection, and how urgent is it to see a doctor in such cases? Can infection spread or cause fever?

If a sebaceous cyst becomes red, swollen, and painful, it is likely infected. Signs of infection may include warmth, tenderness, pus formation, and sometimes fever.
Infection should be evaluated promptly by a doctor, as untreated infections can spread to surrounding tissues and cause more serious complications. Treatment may include antibiotics and, in some cases, drainage or surgical removal of the cyst.
Early medical attention ensures proper management and prevents the infection from worsening.
