Do lipomas pose any risk if left untreated for years?

Are lipomas dangerous in any way? I’ve read that most lipomas are harmless, but can they ever become cancerous or cause complications if left untreated for a long time?

Lipomas are generally harmless and very rarely become cancerous. Most people never experience serious complications from a lipoma. They usually grow slowly, remain soft, and do not cause pain. However, if a lipoma becomes very large, painful, or starts pressing on nearby nerves or blood vessels, it may need removal.

Regular monitoring by your doctor is important, and any sudden changes in size, pain, or texture should be checked promptly to rule out rare malignancy or other issues.
