Does PCOS affect IVF success rates and increase miscarriage risk?

My doctor has suggested I undergo IVF because of PCOS-related infertility. I am extremely nervous and worried about whether IVF success rates are lower in women with PCOS. Does PCOS also increase the chances of miscarriage even after successful conception?

Feeling nervous before IVF is completely natural. The reassuring part is that women with PCOS usually respond very well to IVF since their ovaries produce more eggs. In fact, many studies show good success rates in PCOS patients, sometimes even better than average. The main risk is producing too many eggs at once, which doctors can control by adjusting medications and monitoring carefully.

Regarding miscarriage, PCOS can slightly increase the risk, mainly because of hormonal and metabolic issues, but with proper preparation and support, many women carry healthy pregnancies. Managing weight, blood sugar, and hormones before starting IVF helps lower risks and improves success. Speaking openly with your fertility specialist about these concerns will help you feel more prepared and supported through the process.
