Ectopic pregnancy loss emotional recovery, self-blame, and importance of counseling ?

I am newly married and had my first pregnancy diagnosed as ectopic. I feel devastated and guilty. Does this mean my body is weak or unhealthy? How do women cope emotionally after such a loss, and is counseling usually advised?

Having an ectopic pregnancy is not your fault and does not mean your body is weak. It is a medical condition that can happen even in otherwise healthy women. The feelings of loss, guilt, and fear you are experiencing are very common, especially with a first pregnancy. Many women find it helps to talk openly with their partner, family, or others who have gone through the same experience. Counseling or support groups can be very useful in processing the grief and regaining confidence for the future. Doctors also usually recommend a follow-up visit, both to check your recovery and to discuss safe planning for the next pregnancy when you are ready.
