How common is it to still need reading glasses after multifocal lens implantation?

I read that some patients still need reading glasses even after multifocal lens implantation. How common is this, and is it worth spending the extra money for multifocal lenses if glasses might still be needed?

A small percentage of patients may still need reading glasses for very fine print, but the majority experience significant freedom from glasses for most tasks. Many feel the convenience and independence justify the investment, especially for daily life, hobbies, and social activities. Discussing realistic expectations with your surgeon helps patients feel confident about choosing multifocal lenses.
