How crucial is follow-up care after a child’s squint surgery?

My child had squint surgery last week. The surgeon mentioned eye patching and exercises afterward. How important is post-operative care, and what if my child resists doing the exercises or wearing the patch? Can that affect the results?

Post-operative care is an important part of squint treatment, especially if your child has amblyopia (lazy eye) or needs to strengthen certain eye muscles. Patching and exercises help the brain use both eyes together more effectively. If your child resists, try to make it fun and rewarding, as skipping this step can affect long-term results. Your doctor can suggest alternatives or modified schedules, but consistency really improves the final outcome.
