How is a TB test done, and is it painful?
I’ve been advised by my doctor to get tested for TB because of a persistent cough and weight loss. I’m a bit nervous because I don’t know what the test involves. Is it a complicated or painful process? What should I expect during a TB test?

TB can be diagnosed through different tests depending on symptoms. Common methods include sputum tests, chest X-rays, and blood tests.
A sputum test involves coughing up mucus from the lungs, which is then examined in a lab. Blood tests like TB Gold are also used in some cases.
These tests are generally simple and not painful, though providing a sputum sample may feel slightly uncomfortable. Early testing helps in timely treatment.
