How Many Sessions Are Needed for Full Body Laser Hair Removal? Can Hair Grow Back?

I underwent laser hair removal about two years ago and needed around five to six sessions. For full-body hair removal, are more sessions required than this? And can the hair grow back again?

When I counsel patients for laser hair reduction, I try to simplify the concept of sessions because this is one of the most common questions patients ask. To make it easier, I divide the treatment into cycles. Cycle one consists of six to eight sessions and is mandatory for everyone. Cycle two again involves six to eight sessions, depending on the response, and cycle three is usually the maintenance phase. I explain to patients that the total number of sessions mainly depends on the level of hormonal imbalance.

After completing the first cycle of six to eight sessions, if hair growth is well controlled, the patient may move directly into the maintenance phase during the second cycle. Maintenance means that instead of coming every one to one and a half months, the patient may need sessions every two to three months, depending on hair regrowth.

If hormonal imbalance is significant, blood tests may be required and hormonal treatment may be started, in which case the patient may need to go into a third maintenance cycle. This approach helps patients clearly understand their progress and expected results.
