How stable is vision after LASIK in the long term?

I’ve been wearing glasses since childhood, so I’m confused about whether LASIK permanently fixes the underlying refractive error. Does LASIK truly offer a lifelong correction, or can my vision worsen again due to aging or lifestyle factors? How stable are the results in the long run?

LASIK permanently reshapes your cornea to correct the refractive error you’ve had since childhood, so the surgical change itself is lifelong. The tissue removed doesn’t grow back, giving stable, glasses-free vision for most people over decades.

However, natural aging brings presbyopia (needing readers for close-up after 40-45), and rare regression or lifestyle factors like hormones/screen time might slightly shift things in 5-10% long-term, often fixable with enhancements. Results stay reliable with healthy eyes and check-ups.
