Is it safe for seniors with multiple health issues to undergo cataract surgery?

My father is 70 and his cataract is advanced. He also has high blood pressure and mild diabetes. The doctor says surgery is safe, but we are worried if these conditions can increase risks during cataract surgery. How do hospitals usually manage older patients with multiple health issues?

It’s common for older patients to have conditions like diabetes or hypertension, and cataract surgery is usually still very safe. Before the operation, doctors ensure that blood sugar and blood pressure are well controlled. The anesthesia used is local (just drops or a small injection), so stress on the body is minimal. Hospitals also run routine tests and monitor patients closely during the short procedure. With proper care, most people with these conditions do very well.
