Is it safe to work on a computer soon after Lasik surgery?

I work long hours on a computer, and I’m concerned whether screen usage after Lasik will affect healing. How soon can I safely resume digital work, and is there any risk of hurting my results by using my laptop or phone too early?

It’s smart to worry about screens after Lasik since they can worsen temporary dryness and strain during early healing, but with precautions, resuming digital work is safe and straightforward for most.

Avoid all screens (phone, laptop) for the first 24 hours to let your eyes rest fully. By day 2-3, light use like checking emails is usually okay if comfortable, limit to 1-2 hours with frequent breaks (20-20-20 rule), lubricating drops every 30 minutes, and good lighting to cut glare. Full workdays often resume by 1 week, though high-screen jobs may need 2 weeks of adjusted hours; no risk to results if you follow drops and avoid rubbing vision stabilizes quickly anyway.
