Is LASIK surgery painful and what happens if I blink or move during the procedure?

I am planning for LASIK next month but feeling anxious. How painful is the procedure really, and do you actually feel the laser on your eyes? Iām worried I might blink or move accidentally during surgery.

LASIK is generally not painful because numbing eye drops are used before the procedure. Most patients describe it as mild pressure or slight discomfort rather than actual pain. You do not feel the laser itself, only some light and sounds during the process. A special device keeps your eyes open, so blinking is not an issue, and advanced tracking systems adjust for small eye movements. The entire surgery takes only a few minutes per eye, and anxiety usually eases once it begins.
