IUI for infertility how effective is it and how many cycles are usually needed?

My wife and I have been trying to conceive for over 2 years, but nothing has worked. Our doctor suggested IUI as the next step. I’m nervous about whether it will actually help, and how many cycles we might need before success.

IUI, or intrauterine insemination, is often recommended for couples with unexplained infertility or mild male factor issues. Success rates vary, typically around 10–20% per cycle, and many couples need 2–4 cycles before achieving pregnancy.
Patience and realistic expectations are important, as results aren’t guaranteed in the first attempt. Your doctor may combine IUI with ovulation-inducing medications to improve chances.
Emotional preparation, support from your partner, and open communication with your fertility team can help manage anxiety during this process.
