LASIK or ICL : Comparison of Safety, Benefits & Treatment Flexibility

I have a low power of around -2 and I’m confused whether I should go for LASIK or lens-based surgery like ICL. Which option is better for me, and if I choose LASIK now, will I still be able to undergo lens implantation or other eye treatments in the future if needed?

For mild refractive errors around -2 diopters, both LASIK and lens-based options like ICL can be considered depending on corneal thickness, eye condition, and detailed evaluation. LASIK reshapes the cornea using a laser, while ICL involves placing a lens inside the eye without altering the cornea. Both procedures are generally safe and do not limit future treatments, as options like cataract surgery or lens replacement can still be performed if needed later.

Scheduling the procedure is usually flexible based on availability and readiness. The final decision should be made after a comprehensive eye examination, with the doctor recommending the most suitable option based on your eye health and long term vision needs.
