Lipoma Removal Follow-Up : Bruising, Swelling & Recovery Guidance

I recently had lipomas removed, but I’m still noticing bruising, some swelling, and a slight lump-like feeling in the area. I’m unsure if this is normal or if something is left behind. Also, what care should I follow now, when will the swelling settle, and when should I come for follow-up?

What you are experiencing is quite normal after lipoma removal. Bruising and mild swelling commonly occur after the procedure and usually settle gradually over a couple of weeks. The lump-like feeling you are noticing is most likely post-surgical swelling, not the lipoma itself, and it will soften over time.

In some cases, a small amount of residual tissue or additional lipomas may be present. These can be evaluated during your follow-up visit and, if needed, can be removed at that time without additional charges.

You can continue with normal daily activities like bathing, but it is advisable to avoid workouts or strenuous physical activity until the stitches are removed. Light movements, including driving, are generally fine. If you experience discomfort at the injection or surgical site, using an ice pack or warm compress can help relieve it.
