Sravanthi, since you are 25 years old and have missed your period with a positive pregnancy test, taking misoprostol alone may not always result in heavy bleeding immediately.

The effectiveness of medical abortion depends on the duration of pregnancy and whether the correct dosage and combination of medicines (usually mifepristone followed by misoprostol) were taken as prescribed.

After taking misoprostol, bleeding and cramping typically start within 6–24 hours, but in some cases it may take longer, or the bleeding may be lighter than expected, especially in very early pregnancy.

If you have not experienced significant bleeding within 24–48 hours, or if there is only very minimal spotting, it is important to consult a gynecologist for evaluation.

An ultrasound may be needed to confirm whether the pregnancy is still ongoing or if the abortion process has started. Do not repeat the medication on your own without medical advice.

Also, seek urgent medical care if you develop severe abdominal pain, fever, foul-smelling discharge, dizziness, or very heavy bleeding (soaking one pad per hour). Proper medical supervision ensures the process is safe and complete.
