Open vs Closed Rhinoplasty: Which Is Better?

There seem to be different surgical techniques, like open rhinoplasty versus closed rhinoplasty. How do I know which method is best for my nose shape and desired outcome, and what are the advantages or disadvantages of each?

Rhinoplasty can be performed using open or closed techniques, and the choice depends on your nose shape, complexity of the changes, and desired results.

Closed rhinoplasty involves internal incisions with no visible scars and is usually suitable for minor reshaping or tip adjustments, offering quicker recovery but limited surgical access.

Open rhinoplasty adds a small incision on the columella, providing better visibility and precision for complex reshaping, asymmetry correction, or combining cosmetic and functional improvements, though recovery may be slightly longer and a small external scar may form.

Your surgeon will recommend the method that achieves the most natural-looking result with minimal risk
