PCOS & Fertility What Helps When Ovulation Treatments and IUI Don’t Work?

My sister has PCOS and has been undergoing multiple treatments for ovulation induction, but she has still not been able to get pregnant. She is emotionally drained and frustrated, and our whole family is worried about her health. Are there additional strategies besides medications that improve fertility in women with PCOS, and how do doctors usually decide when to move from IUI to IVF?

PCOS-related infertility often responds to lifestyle modifications, such as weight management, exercise, and dietary adjustments, alongside medications for ovulation induction.

Supplements like inositol and vitamin D may also support ovulation in some women. If multiple cycles of ovulation induction or IUI fail, doctors generally recommend IVF as it bypasses many ovulatory challenges and increases pregnancy chances.

Emotional support, counseling, and close follow-up during treatment are critical for coping with repeated disappointments. Monitoring hormone levels and follicle response helps determine when transitioning from IUI to IVF is appropriate.
