Periods Not Started 3 Months After Abortion Despite Medicines

It has been three months since your abortion, and you took period-inducing medicines 9 days ago but still have not gotten your period. At 36 years of age, this situation can occur due to hormonal imbalance, especially after an abortion, as the body sometimes takes time to regulate the menstrual cycle again.

Stress, weakness, thyroid problems, PCOS, or changes in weight can also delay periods. Additionally, if there has been any unprotected intercourse after the abortion, pregnancy should be ruled out first by doing a urine pregnancy test.

If your pregnancy test is negative, the delay is most likely hormonal. Sometimes, even after taking period tablets, bleeding may take 7–14 days to start. However, if your periods do not come within another week, or if you develop severe abdominal pain, abnormal discharge, or heavy bleeding later, you should visit a gynecologist for an examination and possibly an ultrasound and hormone tests.

Do not take repeated medicines without medical supervision. With proper evaluation and treatment, your cycle can usually be regulated safely.
