Persistent Nasal Issues After Septoplasty: Is Revision Needed?

It is not unusual to experience some dryness or mild blockage for several months after septoplasty, as the inside of the nose continues to heal and adapt. Sometimes swelling, crusting, or scar tissue can temporarily cause a sensation of blockage even if the septum has been corrected. In most patients, regular follow-ups and the use of saline sprays or ointments help the nose heal fully and breathing improves with time. A shift of the septum after surgery is uncommon, but it can happen in rare cases. Your ENT can check this through a simple examination and, if needed, suggest further treatment. Repeat surgery is only required in a small percentage of patients, and most do well with proper aftercare and medical management.
