Persistent Symptoms After FESS: Is Revision Needed?Sinus Surgery

I underwent sinus surgery (FESS) last year, but I still experience nasal blockage and headaches. Does sinus surgery often fail or require repeat procedures? Is there a way to ensure sinusitis doesn’t come back again after treatment?

Most people do well after sinus surgery, but recurrence can happen in some cases. The reasons may include ongoing allergies, development of nasal polyps, incomplete healing, or exposure to pollution and irritants. A repeat surgery is sometimes needed, but often symptoms can be managed with proper aftercare and follow-up treatments. To reduce recurrence, doctors usually advise regular saline rinses, allergy management, and avoiding smoking or strong pollutants. Long-term nasal sprays may also be prescribed. It is important to stay in touch with your ENT after surgery because early treatment of small issues can prevent major flare-ups. Surgery gives a new start, but maintaining sinus health requires continued care.
