PRK vs LASIK vs Contoura : Cost, Recovery & EMI Options
2 months ago
I recently consulted at Vasan Eye Care and spoke with Mayank. The doctor suggested Contoura for around ₹75,000 and PRK for about ₹55,000, mentioning that the vision outcome would be similar. I would like to know the minimum cost for PRK, whether PRK and LASIK are the same or different procedures, how the recovery time differs between them, and whether EMI options are available (for example, converting ₹50,000 into 12 months of EMI).

PRK and LASIK (including advanced options like Contoura) are different types of refractive eye procedures. LASIK is a commonly used term for laser-based vision correction, while PRK is a surface-based laser procedure where no flap is created. Contoura is a more customized, topography-guided LASIK procedure and is usually priced higher because of its advanced technology and precision.
Although the final visual outcome in many cases may be similar between PRK and Contoura, the main difference lies in recovery time. PRK typically has a slightly longer and more uncomfortable recovery period compared to LASIK. Contoura, where vision stabilizes faster.
The cost for PRK is generally around ₹55,000, while Contoura may be around ₹75,000 depending on the center and evaluation.
EMI options are available; for example, if a ₹50,000 procedure is converted into a 12-month EMI, the monthly payment would be approximately ₹5,000 (subject to bank approval and terms).
The best procedure for you ultimately depends on your corneal thickness, eye health, and test results, so it’s important to follow the doctor’s recommendation after a complete evaluation.
