Prolonged bleeding after miscarriage normal recovery or retained tissue ?Miscarriage

After my miscarriage, I’ve been experiencing heavy bleeding and clots for more than 11 days now. Is this normal, or could it mean that some tissue is still left inside the uterus? At what point should I seek urgent medical help?

Bleeding usually lasts for about one to two weeks after a miscarriage, but if it continues heavily beyond ten days with clots, it can mean that some tissue is still inside the uterus. If you are soaking pads every hour, feeling dizzy, faint, or having a foul-smelling discharge or fever, it is important to seek urgent medical care. In such cases, doctors may do an ultrasound to check if tissue remains and may suggest medicines or a minor procedure to clear it. Getting checked on time prevents infection and anemia, so it is best not to delay if bleeding is this heavy.
