Quad vs Hamstring Graft for ACL Surgery, What Was Your Experience?

For those who’ve had ACL surgery, how did you decide between a quadriceps tendon graft and a hamstring graft? I’m trying to understand the differences in pain, recovery, strength, and long-term benefits of both. Can you explain about your experience?

Both quadriceps and hamstring grafts are effective, but the experience can vary depending on an individual’s condition. Many patients report that quad grafts feel strong and stable with less long-term hamstring weakness. Also, the early kneecap-area soreness is common.

Hamstring grafts often cause less knee pain, but some people experience temporary hamstring weakness during recovery.

The best choice often depends on your activities, anatomy, and preference, depending on your condition.Discuss with an orthopedic surgeon for a better understanding.
