Revision Rhinoplasty: Why Some Patients Need It

I’ve heard that some patients need revision rhinoplasty if they are not fully satisfied with the results. How common is it to require a second surgery, and what are the usual reasons for revisions after the initial procedure?

Revision rhinoplasty is relatively uncommon but sometimes necessary if the patient or surgeon feels the desired results weren’t fully achieved. Common reasons for a second surgery include asymmetry, residual bumps or humps, tip deformities, breathing difficulties, or over- or under-correction from the initial procedure.

Because the first surgery alters nasal structures, revision surgery is typically more complex and requires careful planning by an experienced surgeon. While most patients achieve excellent results with their first rhinoplasty, discussing realistic expectations and having thorough pre-operative planning can significantly reduce the likelihood of needing a revision.
