Septoplasty: Will It Cure Breathing & Sinus Issues?Septoplasty
4 weeks ago
I have been living with a deviated septum for many years, which makes it extremely difficult to breathe through one side of my nose. I also get frequent sinus infections and constant headaches. My ENT has suggested septoplasty, but I am very anxious about surgery. Will it actually cure my breathing problems and reduce sinus attacks, or is there still a chance that my symptoms may return even after the procedure?

A deviated septum can make breathing through the nose very difficult and often increases the chances of repeated sinus infections because the airflow is blocked. Septoplasty works by straightening the nasal septum and creating a clear passage for air to flow freely. For most people, this surgery brings a noticeable improvement in breathing and significantly reduces the frequency of sinus infections and headaches. Like any medical procedure, there is a small chance that some symptoms may persist if there are additional issues such as allergies, swollen turbinates, or nasal polyps. However, in the majority of cases, septoplasty provides long-lasting relief and patients report a major improvement in quality of life. If you follow post-surgery care and regular check-ups, the chances of symptoms returning are very low.
