Sinus Treatment in Children: Medicine or Surgery?Sinus Surgery
5 months ago
My 12-year-old son has frequent sinus infections and struggles with breathing, especially at night. Doctors are advising early treatment before it affects his growth and school performance. As a parent, I am worried — is long-term use of medicines safe for children, or should we consider surgical treatment at such a young age?

In children, constant sinus infections can cause disturbed sleep, poor concentration, and sometimes even affect facial growth if not managed early. Using antibiotics or nasal sprays repeatedly is not ideal for long-term health, as it can cause side effects and reduced effectiveness. If your son’s symptoms are affecting his day-to-day life and school, doctors often recommend surgery at this stage because it helps restore normal breathing and reduces infections. Adenoid problems or structural blockage are common in children and surgery is a safe solution when needed. The goal is not only to cure the infection but also to improve his overall growth, sleep quality, and confidence at this important age.
