Squint surgery in children: Is it permanent and safe for vision development?Squint Surgery
2 months ago
My 6-year-old son has a noticeable squint in one eye. The doctor suggested surgery, but I’m worried — will the surgery correct it permanently, or will he need another procedure later? Also, can surgery affect his vision development at this age?

Squint surgery in children is generally safe and helps restore proper eye alignment, which is important for normal visual development. In many cases, a single surgery is enough, but sometimes children may need a second adjustment as they grow. Doing the surgery at a young age gives the brain a better chance to develop depth perception and binocular vision. Regular follow-ups are important, but most children experience lasting benefits in both vision and appearance.
