Sudden Ear Pain in One Ear : What Could Be the Cause and Immediate Relief?
I’ve suddenly developed severe pain in my right ear since the last 2 days. I never had this issue before. I don’t have cold or cough, but I feel slightly feverish due to the pain. Since yesterday, I also feel a little reduced hearing in that ear. I didn’t insert anything to clean it. What could be the reason and what should I do for quick relief?

Based on your symptoms, it could be due to earwax buildup or a mild ear infection, which can cause pain, slight hearing loss, and discomfort. Since you don’t have cold or other symptoms, wax accumulation is a common possibility.
You can continue using prescribed ear drops like Autogesic (3 drops, 3 times a day) for a few days, as they help soften and dissolve the wax. Steam inhalation and pain relief medication can also help reduce discomfort. If the pain or hearing issue doesn’t improve within 2–3 days, it’s important to visit an ENT specialist for proper examination and cleaning if required.
