Tonsil Surgery: Will It Help with Breathing and Allergy Symptoms?Tonsillectomy

My younger daughter had enlarged tonsils, but she also suffers from seasonal allergies. The ENT said surgery would help with breathing and sleep, but will it also reduce her allergy-related symptoms, or do we still need ongoing treatment?

Tonsillectomy addresses mechanical obstruction caused by enlarged tonsils, improving breathing and sleep. It does not directly treat allergies, which may still cause nasal congestion, sneezing, or eye irritation. Allergy management may involve medications, nasal sprays, or environmental measures alongside surgery. Many children experience better sleep and fewer nighttime breathing issues, even with allergies. Regular follow-up and allergy care are recommended to maintain overall comfort and health.
