Varicose Veins Care: Physiotherapy and Doppler Scan?Varicose Veins
3 months ago
I have varicose veins in my legs with pain, skin changes, and sometimes cellulitis. Could you please explain what the best varicose veins pain treatment is, and whether physiotherapy for varicose veins can help? My doctor suggested a colour Doppler test or varicose veins Doppler. Can you tell me how this works and if it’s useful?

Your symptoms, including pain, skin changes, and episodes of cellulitis, point towards an advanced varicose veins disease, and it requires a more comprehensive approach. However, for pain management, compression stockings, leg elevation, and other anti-inflammatory measures can be considered.
In severe cases, we usually suggest minimally invasive procedures, like laser ablation, radiofrequency ablation, or sclerotherapy, depending on the severity of the patient’s condition.
A color Doppler ultrasound is very useful in diagnosing the condition. It evaluates blood flow, detects valve failure or blockages, and helps guide the most effective treatment plan tailored to your condition. Physiotherapy can also help by improving blood flow and strengthening leg muscles through targeted exercises.
