What is the highest myopia that Lasik can safely correct?”

I have a high prescription for myopia and have worn thick glasses for years. Is Lasik still suitable for someone with very high power, or are there limits to how much correction the laser can safely achieve?

Lasik can still be suitable for high myopia prescriptions, but there are safe limits based on your corneal thickness and overall eye health typically up to -12 diopters for nearsightedness, though surgeons often prefer under -8 to -10 for optimal results and lower risks like ectasia (corneal weakening).

A detailed pre-op scan measures how much tissue can be safely removed; if your corneas are too thin for the correction needed, alternatives like PRK, ICL (implantable lenses), or lens exchange might be better. Get screened soon many with high prescriptions achieve great outcomes with experienced surgeons using wavefront tech.
