For someone undergoing stapedectomy, what kind of recovery care is usually needed? Are there restrictions on movement, diet, or activities, and how long before one can fully return to work or routine life?

Recovery involves avoiding heavy lifting, bending, or strenuous activity for 2–3 weeks to prevent pressure on the middle ear. Patients should keep the ear dry, avoid air travel until cleared by the ENT, and follow prescribed medications. Mild discomfort or pressure may persist initially, and hearing gradually improves over a few weeks. Most people return to work or normal routines within 1–2 weeks if their job does not involve heavy physical activity. Full healing, including the stabilization of hearing, may take up to 6 weeks, with follow-up audiometry ensuring success.
