That’s a very practical question. Gym and diet work well when a person’s weight gain is mild, usually a BMI below 30 and there are no major hormonal or metabolic problems. In such cases, disciplined eating, portion control, regular exercise, and good sleep can help you achieve and maintain healthy weight.

But when obesity becomes severe (BMI above 35) or there are associated issues like diabetes, high BP, thyroid imbalance, or cholesterol problems, then simple diet and exercise may not be enough. That’s when medical intervention such as obesity medicines, metabolic therapy, or bariatric surgery becomes necessary.

The logic is simple if the metabolism itself is disturbed, then only correcting food and exercise won’t reset it. So, the approach depends on the root cause and stage of obesity.
