When to consider glaucoma surgery in adults with no major vision lossGlaucoma Surgery

I am an adult with high eye pressure but no major vision loss yet. My doctor said surgery can prevent progression. Should I consider surgery now, or try maximum medications first? How do patients usually decide?

In most cases, doctors recommend trying medications and laser treatments first, as these are less invasive and often effective in lowering eye pressure. Surgery is usually considered when drops are not enough or when side effects make them difficult to continue. Some patients with very high pressure or aggressive glaucoma may be advised to go for surgery earlier. The decision is made after weighing the risks of surgery against the risk of permanent vision loss if pressure is not controlled.
