Which Tablet Is Used to Stop a 2-Month Pregnancy in India?

I'm around 8 weeks pregnant and want to know if tablets can still stop the pregnancy at this stage in India. Is medication still an option, and is a doctor visit required?

At 8 weeks, medical abortion is still possible in India, but it must happen under medical supervision.

The standard protocol is mifepristone (200mg) followed by misoprostol (800mcg) taken 24–48 hours apart. This is the approved MTP regimen under India’s MTP Act. Effectiveness at this stage is around 93–95% when done correctly.

An ultrasound beforehand is essential it confirms gestational age and rules out ectopic pregnancy, where tablets don’t work and can be dangerous. Most gynecologists can do the full consultation and prescription in one visit.

Avoid buying tablets without a prescription. Incorrect dosing or an undiagnosed ectopic pregnancy can cause serious complications. The consultation is confidential, and the process is straightforward at 8 weeks when managed by a doctor.
