Will fibroid surgery affect my chances of getting pregnant or having a safe delivery?

I have multiple fibroids, and everyone has suggested I have surgery, but I’m scared about whether I will still be able to conceive after it. Can fibroids or the surgery itself affect pregnancy chances or create complications in future deliveries?

It’s very natural to feel anxious when you’re told about surgery, especially if you’re thinking about pregnancy in the future. Fibroids themselves can sometimes interfere with conception or cause complications like miscarriages, depending on their size and location.
Surgery, especially a myomectomy, is often recommended for women who wish to preserve fertility because it removes the fibroids while keeping the uterus intact.
Most women are able to conceive after myomectomy, though doctors usually advise waiting a few months to allow proper healing.
In some cases, if the surgery involves deeper layers of the uterus, there may be a slightly higher chance of needing a cesarean delivery in the future to reduce the risk of uterine rupture.
It would be wise to discuss your specific case with a gynecologist who specializes in fertility-preserving procedures. Sometimes an ultrasound or MRI is advised to see how fibroids are affecting the uterine lining and to decide the safest treatment plan.
Multiple fibroids and their surgery can impact fertility or future pregnancy, so consult an experienced gynecologist through face-to-face consultation, call, or message to understand safe options and planning.
