Will I be able to return to normal life after ACL surgery without worrying about my knee giving out?

I tore my ACL a few weeks ago and was advised surgery immediately. I am anxious about long-term recovery and stability. Will I be able to return to normal life and work without constant fear of my knee giving out?

With modern ACL reconstruction, long-term stability is excellent. Most patients regain confidence in walking, climbing stairs, and daily activities within three to four months. Returning to sports or heavy activity usually happens around six to nine months. Structured physiotherapy builds strength, balance, and proprioception, reducing the risk of re-injury. Following the recovery plan and avoiding premature stress on the knee is critical. Most patients report living pain-free and confidently performing routine tasks after surgery. Long-term success depends on consistent rehabilitation and avoiding risky movements early on.
