Will Sinusitis Return After FESS?Fess Surgery
2 months ago
I have been suffering from chronic sinusitis for almost 4 years. My nose is always blocked, I get constant headaches, and antibiotics only give short-term relief. Now my ENT has suggested FESS surgery. I am nervous because I have never had any surgery before. Does FESS really cure sinusitis permanently, or is there still a chance that the problem might return?

FESS, or Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery, is a modern technique that opens the blocked sinus passages so that they can drain and function normally again. For people who have been living with sinusitis for years and are not getting lasting relief from medicines, it usually brings a major improvement in symptoms like blockage, headaches, and recurrent infections. However, it is important to understand that sinusitis can sometimes return, especially if there are underlying triggers such as allergies, nasal polyps, or structural problems inside the nose. Surgery provides a long-term solution by correcting the blockage, but ongoing care with nasal sprays, allergy control, and regular follow-up is also needed to maintain results. Most patients experience a dramatic improvement in their quality of life, but doctors are always cautious to explain that no surgery is a 100 percent permanent cure for every single case.
