Diagnosis
The gynecologist does a physical examination to check the extent or severity of the condition. The patient may also have to undergo the below given medical tests, if suggested by the doctor.
- Pelvic Exam- To diagnose infection, uterine fibroids, abnormal growths, etc.; Ultrasound- To diagnose for masses or cysts; Lab tests including urinalysis, blood cell counts; Other medical tests including MRI, CT-Scan, X-Ray, etc for further diagnosis.

The treatment is suggested to the female after proper diagnosis, as per the causes of the pain. Based on diagnosis, physical examination and test results, the following treatment options or certain lifestyle changes are suggested to the female:Medications
Medication is suitable in case the cause of the condition is certain infection. The medication can help the female get rid of any infection causing the problem. Medication can help cure the problem and give relief from chronic pelvic pain and other symptoms.
Hormone Treatment
Hormone treatment is recommended to the females who have pelvic pain during ovulation period. The gynecologist prescribes birth control pills or hormone medicines to help ease the pain and treat the condition. The gynecologist may also prescribe antibiotics and antidepressants to some patients, depending on the diagnosis and condition of the female.
Physical Therapies
Depending on the diagnosis, the gynecologist may suggest physical therapy to the female. Physical therapy includes exercises such as stretching, massaging, and relaxation therapies to help cure the pelvic pain. Some females may also be suggested to go for Neurostimulation or spinal cord stimulation, trigger point injections and psychotherapy which are useful to treat the problem of pelvic pain.
Surgery
If other treatment options fail to provide relief to the female, the final solution is to go under the knife. The doctor may suggest Laparoscopic Surgery or Hysterectomy to the female to cure the condition.
