About Microlaryngeal Surgery

What is Microlaryngeal Surgery?

Microlaryngeal Surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove abnormal growths like polyps, benign cysts, or granulomas. Microlaryngeal Surgery is essentially performed to treat laryngeal cancer or to correct voice disorders. Most voice disorders can be treated with voice therapy or antibiotics. However, there are certain conditions where operative measures are necessary.

Procedure

Your ENT doctor will ask you detailed questions about the symptoms and examine you thoroughly. A laryngoscope may be used to examine your vocal cords. Additional tests including sound analysis and laryngeal electromyography may also be conducted to measure the irregularities in the sound produced by the vocal cords. The treatment is based on the diagnosis report and the nature of the problem. Microlaryngeal surgery for voice disorder is a minimally invasive procedure for the removal of abnormal growths in the vocal cords. The surgeon uses a laryngoscope, which is a thin metallic tube with an endoscope at the end to perform the procedure with immense precision. Only the damaged tissue is excised.

Advantage

  • Minimally invasive technique
  • Faster healing
  • Improved voice quality
