With or without food, Levonorgestrel Emergency Contraceptive Tablet is available as a single tablet and can be taken with or without food. It is to be taken as soon as possible, no later than 72 hours (3 days) following the first unprotected sex episode or contraceptive failure. The active ingredient in this pill is levonorgestrel. Once it enters the bloodstream, it prevents the production of hormones, follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) and luteinizing hormone(LH).
