When does a growing lipoma need surgical removal?

My lipoma seems to be growing gradually. At what point does a doctor recommend surgical removal? Is it necessary to remove all lipomas, or can small, asymptomatic ones be safely left alone?

Doctors usually recommend surgical removal of a lipoma if it is growing rapidly, causing pain, affecting movement, or pressing on nerves or blood vessels. Small, painless, and asymptomatic lipomas can often be safely monitored without surgery. The decision to remove a lipoma depends on symptoms, size, location, and patient preference.

Removal is generally for comfort, cosmetic reasons, or to rule out rare malignancy. Regular check-ups are advised to monitor any changes in size or characteristics.
