Can lipomas be treated without surgery, and are those methods safe?”

Are there non-surgical treatments for lipomas, like steroid injections or liposuction? How effective are these methods compared to traditional surgical removal, and are there risks involved with non-surgical approaches?

Non-surgical options for lipomas are limited. Steroid injections may shrink a lipoma slightly but rarely remove it completely and often require multiple sessions. Liposuction can remove some fat, but the capsule may remain, increasing the chance of recurrence.
Surgical excision is the most reliable method because it removes the entire lipoma including its capsule, minimizing the risk of it coming back. Non-surgical methods carry fewer immediate risks but may not provide complete or lasting results.
